On September 16, 72 teams from all over Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchwewan met at Davenport Motorsports in Calgary for the official start line of the third official event of the year and sixth in the company’s history; Royal Rally – RMR. Teams came from as far as Saskatoon, Fort McMurray and Fernie to participate in the single-day event, based out of Calgary
Teams checked in inside the Davenport Motorsports showroom, received their rally apparel and got prepared for the day ahead. John and Carmen from Team D.N.R. showed up in blood-splattered suits and a plume of smoke, announcing their arrival to the final event of the year.
After teams were briefed on how the event would run and had the official safety talk, they were handed their official route card for the morning.
Teams were tasked with locating the Royal Rally bricks on a wall of over 500 bricks at the Cochrane Ranchehouse, before heading to the Discovery Wildlife Park in Innisfail and then the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in Red Deer, before heading for lunch in Sylvan Lake.
After having a chance to rest, teams received their afternoon route card, sending them to the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site, the town of Nordegg, the scenic Abraham Lake and then the Sylvan Lake Go-Karts before heading back to Hotel Blackfoot back in Calgary for the buffet dinner and awards ceremony.
