On June 10 & 11, 60 teams from all over Western Canada met at Davenport Motorsports in Calgary for the official start line of the Royal Rally – Sky Sprint event. Teams came from as far as Meadow Lake, Swift Current and Saskatoon in Saskatchewan & Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge in Alberta to participate in the event, starting in Calgary.

Teams checked in, received their rally apparel, decals and instructions on how the event would run before being handed their first route card for the day, detailing their checkpoint locations for the morning driving leg.

Teams were tasked with finding the Cave & Basin in Banff, drive the Bow Valley Parkway and scramble for checkpoint clues in Field, B.C. before arriving for lunch at the Turning Point Restaurant in Golden, B.C.

After lunch, teams were treated to a tour at the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre outside Golden, B.C. before driving the closed-down Trans-Canada highway to Revelstoke. Once in Revelstoke, teams competed for points at the Revelstoke Railway Museum before heading to 3 Valley Gap on a road closed by permit to take part in a showdown challenge.

Teams stayed at the Best Western Plus hotel in Revelstoke, dined at 112 Steakhouse and socialized at the River City Pub before heading to bed.

The start line for day 2 was at the Revelstoke Mountain Resort, where teams ascended the Gondola for their first checkpoint. Teams then stopped at the Rogers Pass Visitors Centre before locating the Word’s Largest Paddle. The Royal Rally teams regrouped at the Radium Golf Course for lunch and departed for Calgary via the Kootney Highway. Teams stopped at the Home of 1000 Faces and Lake Minnewanka before heading at Hotel Blackfoot in Calgary for dinner and awards.
