SNOWBALL 2027 (Limited to 20 teams)

Calgary – Lake Louise – Rocky Mountain House – Calgary (880km)

February 6-7 2027 (2-Day Event)

Snowball rally is back for its sixth year! Taking a more relaxed approach to our traditional rallies, Snowball aims to bring car and adventure enthusiasts together for a fun weekend out in the mountains. Join us for an automotive-fueled adventure in the Alberta Rockies & Prairies that’ll help make winter something to look forward to!

This year we’re heading from Calgary up to Rocky Mountain House, via an exciting, and unorthodox route. We’ll stay the night in the Rocky Mountain House area and return to Calgary the next day via an epic mountain route including the David Thompson Highway and the Glacier Icefield Parkway.

Rally Format:

The rally will be broken into three driving legs. On each leg of the rally, teams will visit three-four stops, collecting Hot Wheels & Matchbox cars along the way. Teams will have 10 seconds at each stop to pick a car from a bin. The goal is to form a “garage” with the most coherent theme. Each leg of the rally will be scored separately, so a “garage” will contain three-four cars.

Points system:

  • All cars are the same make/model = 7 points
  • All vehicles have racing numbers on the doors = 6 points
  • All cars from the same manufacturer =  5 points
  • All vehicles are the same colour =  4 points
  • All vehicles are either Euro, Import, or European = 3 points

Points are not stackable. You will receive the highest points denomination if you qualify for multiple categories.

There’ll also be bonus points assigned for completing optional activities/tasks along the route.

After the morning leg, we’ll stop for lunch and regroup, then we’ll hit three more checkpoints in the afternoon, before arriving at the hotel for an evening of fun and shenanigans.

On day 2, we’ll begin our third leg and final leg, regrouping for lunch and awards in the Canmore area. This final leg is longer, and will have four stops instead of three. The event will conclude around 2 p.m. on Sunday. If the weather cooperates, we will head to Ghost Lake after the conclusion of the event for some ice drifting!

Snowball is all about fun and enjoyment. It’s low-stress, a slower pace and a fun weekend out with some great people and an awesome atmosphere!

Bring your truck, daily driver or something fun! It’s your choice!

We strongly encourage teams to join in on the fun with costumes, vehicle graphics and gimmicks to enhance the experience of the event. We encourage winter-themed costumes and team themes!

Charitable Contribution: This year’s Snowball Rally is supporting the Luna Child & Youth Advocacy Centre
